Merry Christmas!

We have received an early Christmas present!
Today, in a court room in Oklahoma City, our adoption was finalized. It was an unceremonious and drama-free event. Considering everything we have experienced in our baby adventures that past 12 years, the quiet conclusion is a welcome departure and a comforting relief. No set-backs. No forced change in plans. Just our attorney, a judge, a stamp, and a couple of signatures. Within a matter of seconds, we legally became the parents of Sera and we were awarded all of the "privileges" that accompany that task. We have been basking in these privileges for the past five months, so it feels that little has changed with this recent announcement. However, as Sera rested her very congested head on my shoulder and began to babble "Hey dadada ooh" with a smile, our eyes and faces mere inches apart, I realized that we have a lifetime of these moments to happily anticipate and no one can take her from us.

  1. That document should be framed and up on the wall somewhere. In a big gaudy gilt museum frame with little spotlights on it. It's the most wonderful document I have ever seen! I'm crying happy tears for you right now (for real, I'm such a sap!) because it's all finally FINALLY done. She is yours (OURS!) officially and forever and all you and Craig had to go through to get her has proven to be worth it. You should add the date to your baby timeline! I'm so very happy for you!!!!
