3 months!

Baby Sera is three months old today! Can you believe it? Three months! She will not be officially weighed at the doctor's office until her four month check up. However, using our home measurements, she was a little over 11 lbs. She is still in Size 1 diapers and is still fitting into her 0-3 month clothing. She continues to use the slow flow nipples, though we will be trying the medium flow nipples later this week.

We missed our two month update, for which I apologize. It has been for good reason. Sera keeps us busy. She's not a high maintenance baby. She's not bad or difficult to soothe. She is a pretty happy baby and happy babies are hard to put down. I feel like we were very lucky with Sera. I hear such horror stories about domestic adoption and Sera has been a dream. I don't think we could have been blessed with a better baby. She's a good eater and typically eats 4-5 oz ever 3-4 hours. She's happy most times and loves to smile (We feel like she is starting to laugh, but isn't there yet).
She likes most people and seems to be very tolerant and low key. She's one of the quietest babies in the day care, but she cries/empathizes when other babies cry. She sleeps through the night most nights and smiles when we scoop her from her crib. In the mornings, she sometimes wakes and lies in bed, cooing, "Oh oh oh oh oh" for several minutes alone before she cries for attention. She loves to kick. If she has anything to kick, she will immediately be content. She will kick toys, people, her kick piano, and Fred. The day care has plastic tubes filled with various items, such as jingle bells and bouncy balls. We had to purchase a set and the jingle bells are Sera's favorite:

She does have one problem with kicking. She doesn't seem to know when or how to stop. She will seemingly kick herself into exhaustion. Then, she will display a serious look on her face while kicking wildly, followed by a confused cry. If you pick her up and hold her, you can literally hear a small sigh of relief.

It has been so much fun to see how much Sera has grown and what she has learned. She holds her head, neck, and shoulders rather securely. She grasps and holds things.

She is trying to roll over, but can't figure it out. She talking more. She throws her head back and coos, saying things, such as "Oh," "Who," and "Goo."

Sera is starting to figure out who she is. She loves to coo, but seems to enjoy observing, rather than talking. She seems to prefer her right hand, rather than her left. She likes music and A Whole New World from Disney's Aladdin seems to be the song that brings her the most delight. She is starting to become a side sleeper, often curling to the left when she lays down on her back. She's drawn to light, paying more attention to light reflecting on the water at the river otter exhibit at the zoo, rather than any other animal:
So, happy 3 month birthday to our darling baby and daughter, Sera. It is hard to imagine ever having a life without you and we feel so happy and so lucky that you are our family. The adoption is not yet final, though it seems that the biological father's rights have been terminated. We have one more postplacement visit with the social worker. Hopefully, one report and one court visit and Sera will be an official Repanshek.
